About Independent Power Systems

After 15 years of perfecting the science and art of installing solar electric systems in Montana and Colorado, we are bringing that knowledge back to the East Coast where our founder, Tony Boniface was raised and educated. As a student of the University of Massachusetts, Tony studied Electrical Engineering with a principal focus on opto-electronics – the science of the interaction between electricity and light energy. Since graduating in 1988, he has dedicated himself and then in 1996 his company to the pursuit of promoting the practical use of photovoltaics (solar electric power).

Since its inception, IPS has installed many hundreds of solar electric systems for residential power. From its humble beginnings in Montana providing remote, off-grid power using solar and wind energy to its current status as one of the few Elite Sunpower dealers in the U.S., we have consistently provided the highest quality systems possible. Our commitment to quality stems from our passion for the technology and resultant deep knowledge of the products and trade-skill necessary to build robust systems. We are staffed by Electricians and Engineers many of whom have attained the coveted NABCEP certification.

Our foray into the Massachusetts solar market follows the recently launched Commonwealth Solar II Program which promises to set the example for rest of the country.
