IPS Student Researchers Featured in Cres Webinar for C-Pace Project

Together with four students from the University of Colorado Boulder’s Masters of the Environment (MENV) program, IPS is undertaking 15 months of field research to better understand the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing program and how it can further develop the ease of investing in energy efficiency and solar for commercial clients. Specifically, this research involves interviewing commercial and industrial stakeholders to identify barriers and successful case studies that highlight the benefits of the program. The research insights will funnel back into our commercial consulting lead by Maya Resnick as well as the C-PACE Director in Colorado; offering suggestions for higher adoption and ease of using the program for this community.

C-PACE is a program founded in 2015 and is currently in 35 states. The program helps align the costs, benefits and incentives between commercial landlords and tenants wanting to invest in energy efficiency and renewables. This alignment is critical to rapidly transitioning commercial buildings nationwide to have smaller operational carbon footprints.

On May 13, 2020 at 7:00 PM MDT, the four IPS student researchers—Andy Bingle, Caroline Cox, Dan Kristofzski, and Raquel Soat—will share their early research and findings on C-PACE financing in a webinar event entitled “Energy Frontiers Talks: Student Research into the Energy Transition” hosted by the Boulder County chapter of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES).  The IPS group will be featured alongside other graduate researchers from the University of Colorado’s CU Energy Club also presenting on topics related to the energy transition. For more details and to RSVP for this event, please visit the BCRES meetup page.
