IPS is pleased to announce the completion of a 102.93 kW commercial solar power array installed on the roof of the Kyocera Mexicana solar panel manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico. The system, installed as part of a multinational effort to demonstrate Kyocera’s 35-year commitment to using renewable energy and environmentally-friendly practices, includes 512 KD205 and KC200 model Kyocera solar panels manufactured onsite in the Tijuana plant. The Kyocera solar panels are expected to produce 115,000 kWh each year, offsetting 1.8% of the Kyocera manufacturing plant’s energy usage and more than 77 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The latter is equivalent to planting 1,948 trees.
Project success and awareness led to the Mexico Business Center of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce awarding Kyocera an Environmental Stewardship Award. With the solar power system on the Tijuana plant, there are now 21 Kyocera facilities worldwide utilizing photovoltaics.
